Is service pack 1 critical for 11.0d agents?

Hi All!

BackupExec 11.0d
Windows Server 2003 SP2 Backup Server
(Multiple) Windows Server 2003 (SP0, SP1, SP2) Agents

We are currently backing up 5 servers using agents on remote machines. All of them except 1 server, that is not running any service pack, is backing up ok. The other 4 servers are a mix of SP1, and SP2, and they all work perfectly. Now this is a know issue I believe : http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/290108.htm

What I would like to know is, is there anyway around this to backup the ShadowCopyComponents and the SystemState without SP1? The reason being, it is impossible to install service packs on the machine in question due to a conflict with a 3rd party piece of software that is business critical.

The backups on this un-service packed remote agent server were working perfectly ok, until mid November (~14th iirc).

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!
David

David,

Does NT Backup have any problems backing up the system state of that server?

Hi Blipsey,

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.

I've just logged onto the problem server itself, the one without any service packs installed, and successfully run a manual backup to file of the system state through NT Backup. No problems whatever!
