Job Status "Missed"

543201317
Not applicable
I'm running 10.0 on a Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition, with an Exabyte tape drive. I have a series of jobs scheduled to start at 11:00 PM. The time window on the template says to start between 11:00 PM and 11:59 PM.

The next day the history shows that the jobs have attempted to run thousands of times starting at 11:00 PM and continuing every minute until 7:00 AM. Every entry shows a status of "Missed" and when I attempt to view the log all I get is "The job log for this job may not be generated." Upon viewing the history, I see the following error: "e000e020 - The job was scheduled to run, but the availability window closed before the job could start."

Where are the settings for this availability window? Is there some other reason for these failures?

In order to troubleshoot the problem, we would suggest you please refer to the following technote:-

1) Scheduled jobs do not run but nothing shows up in the Activity Monitor to indicate a failure

http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/251575.htm

And,
2) Title:- Scheduled jobs are reported as "Missed" in the Activity Monitor.

Please verify you have followed the steps mentioned below for creating scheduled job:
Go to Job Setup and double click the Job Name you want to schedule. Click Schedule and in the right pane select today's date from the "Run on" field.
Verify the scheduled date in the Job Monitor.
2:

A time window is the period of time during which a task can begin on any scheduled run day. For example, if you schedule a task to run every Monday, the task can start at or anytime after midnight early Monday morning. It cannot, however, start after 11:59:59 PM Monday night.

Note: The time window does not extend beyond 24 hours, or more specifically, beyond 23 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds. For example, you cannot set a time window starting at 3:00 AM and ending at 5:00 AM the following day.

On the right pane, select both the earliest and the latest time the job can start. A job can run any time between 11:00:00PM and 10:59:59 PM.
Example: Define the schedule window as 2:00AM -> 1:59:59PM.
Start no earlier than: Specifies the time after which a task can start. The start time designates the beginning of the time window associated with the current schedule.

And no later than: Specifies the time by which a task must start; the end time value of the task's time window.

As an additional information, kindly refer the following technote:-
1) Title:- VERITAS Backup Exec(tm) displays the incorrect Start Time for a scheduled job on the Job Monitor tab, even though the scheduled job runs at the correct time.
http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/191086.htm

2) Title:- The scheduled jobs does not run at the scheduled time after changing the "time zone".
http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/239666.htm

3) Title:- Device jobs remain in a "pending" or "Queued" state indefinitely and "scheduled" jobs do not run at their appropriate time.
http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/191594.htm

4) Title:- What to check when VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) for Windows Servers jobs are not running according to schedule http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/192098.htm

5) For test purpose, carry out a small backup job, schedule it and let us know if it runs on proper time.. or incase if you are running normal back, let us know if the normal backup runs as soon as it is fired to device.( Tape or Backup to disk ). Revert Back with the result of the same.

We hope this helps.
