Job engine not start after installing Win2003 SP1

Hi. I installed SBS2003 std with no patch and servicepacks.
After i installed ver 10 for SBS and everything ok. When i tried to upgrade to WinSBS 2003 Sp1 i followed the way on MS homepage. It is broken down in five parts and the 1:st thing to do is win2003 SP1. After that the job engine will not start it says ran out of memory. I continued with the SBS update and made all the five steps so i have WIN SBS Sp1. I have tried to repair, remove , install veritas again but it stops after a short while and nothing is done. So i am trapped. I also tried ver 10.0 sp1 but the same result.

Please help me.

Hello,

It seems the problem occurs after the WIndows 2003 SBS SP 1 install. When the job engine service stops, does it give you any errors? Also check the Windows event logs (application and system) to find any relevent errors.

Is the SBS server a domain controller? If so, are there any other domain controllers in this domain? In case you are not using the latest release of version 10.0, do upgrade to it and then test the results. Here is the link for the upgrade:

Do update on the above details in order to better analyse the problem.

I Have Exactly The Same Issue with MS SBS2003 Premium Edition

I Have Clean installed SBS2003 3 Time Now And Applied Service Pack 1 for SBS

I Get the Same Event on Veritas V10 5520 (Using Veritas Drivers on a VXA2 TBU)

Every thing works but the Job Engine error as follows

Event Source:Service Control Manager
Event Category:None
Event ID:7023
Date:20/07/2005
Time:2:17:05 PM
User:N/A
Computer:WOPR2
Description:
The Backup Exec Job Engine service terminated with the following error: Ran out of memory

As A Follow up
Veritas 10 (5520) and SBS Server 2003 (SP1)
I Have Removed 1/2 the Memory From the Server reducing Down to 1gb RAM Now there is no errors from the Veritas Job Engine (Virtual RAM = 2.5GB) Previous Value of Virtual ram=5.5gb.

For Information and Feedback

Hello Lars,

You may try referring to this technote.

The following error occurs during a restore operation: "An error occurred while scanning the catalogs. The job will not continue. Check for the following: low virtual memory conditions, a corrupt or truncated catalog, that the media you are restoring has not been overwritten."

I don't think setting your page file above 4GB is going to gain you much. In fact, I doubt setting it above your physical RAM is going to do much either (when you have that much physical RAM that is). Try putting the RAM back in but limit the size of the Virtual Page File to something less than 4GB and see what happens.

I found this article interesting reading too:
