Job rate dropped by 50% - BEWS12.5

I have a backup exec 12.5 server. It backs up itself and 3 other workstations to a tape drive. The backup job used to complete with a job rate of 700 MB/minute.

A month ago the server froze up and had to be powered off hard (by holding the power button down.) The server booted back up fine and the application that runs on the server runs without errors. But the backup job now takes twice as long, and averages 350 MB/minute. No hardware was changed, and no software was installed. The amount of data backed up is roughly the same as well (within 2 GB.)

Does anyone have any idea why the job rate would be so much lower now?

Hello

Have you tried reinstalling Symantec drivers for the tape drive.

Also check the event viewer if there are any errors related to hardware.

Make sure you have SP4 installed for BE12.5. After installing the drivers

perform a power cycle of the server and the device.

No, there are no errors in the event log related to the backup jobs or tape drive.

I have installed the latest symantec drivers and sp4, and tried the HP drivers too (with many reboots) without improvement. But thanks for the suggestions.

You need to stop doing a Key Word search of the Knowledge Base and throwing out references

Neither of those links has ANYTHING to do with the OP's situation  Did you see System State anywhere in his post?

As well as reinstalling the Drivers, have you tried a Repair Install of BackupExec itself?
