Wonder if anyone can help with this?
Any job since last week just won't run. Not the normal job, nor any new job. Every job sticks at pre processing.
I'm running Backup Exec 9.1 rev 4691 on an SBS 2003 SP2. All worked fine till the middle of last week. I've gone through article after article and none have fixed the issue. There is nothing wrong with the backup tape drive as I can restore data from previous successful backups.
I have tried applying SP4a to backup exec 9.1 - no success
I have tried creating new backup jobs - no success
I have tried reregistering the SQLVDI.DLL file - no success
I have tried disabling the av software - it's macafee and I've seen it do funny things over the years - no success
I have tried
http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/255242.htm and this
http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/256287.htm - no success
If you look at Amruta's suggestions on this thread -
https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/intermittant-backup-scan-pre-processing-7-hours well I've tried all of them too with no success.
Basically, any scheduled job will start and get to pre processing whereupon it will go no further. If I look in the task manager once a job sticks at this point i can see that two processes - beremote.exe and sqlservr.exe are pretty 'jumpy' taking up about 30% of the CPU and a fair bit of memory. The only way to clear the job is to restart all backup exec services.
The only thing I haven't tried is reinstalling backup exec, but I noticed another user had tried this also with no success. I've personally never seen backup exec do this before, but once I started digging around on the net others have.
Can anyone help?
