LTO shows last cleaning in 2009

Good morning, all!

A cleaning question is bothering me this morning.  We have a server running BE 12.5 backing up to an IBM Ultrium TD-3 drive.  According to the device properties, the drive hasn't asked for a cleaning since December of 2009.  It's logged over 17500 hours since then.  I checked, and there's no request for a cleaning from the drive indicator.  I checked with the other tech and he assures me that the drive has been cleaned since 2009.

The drive has also logged some E00084ED errors in the last few backups, which led me to this problem.

Casting around for possible reasons for the drive balking and BE not tracking cleanings.  BE patch?  Drive firmware version?  (Current FW is 81W0) Other?

Are you able to insert a cleaning tape & clean the drive successfully ?

If yes, does the drive statistic info change ?

For stand alone devices, you must reset the cleaning stats every time you run a cleaning job

For devices in a library, they should be upset when the library does a cleaning job.
