Label media

hello

i have recently bought a hp msl 6030 tape library and symantec backup exec 10.1

the software is all set up and working, i am picking up media in the devices tab, however the label say's unknown media and when i try to label media the job appears in the job monitor tab but does not do anything. i had it running for 3 hours yesterday with no activity in the tape library or in the software.

have i done something wrong?

I have the exact same problem. Quantum DLT VS160 tape drive. I don't think it is the drive. I have all the lastest drivers installed. Windows Small Business Server 2003 and BackupExec 10D can see the drive.

if you shut down all BackupExec services, does NTBackup see and use the drive properly?

Are you using Veritas or mfg drivers?

thank you for your response, since posting this thread we have found that the scsi card we were using was not working correctly, we have replaced this and everything works great.
