Laptop Backup Best Practice

Chu
Level 2

I have quite a few laptops need to be backed up every night. But the fact is the laptops are not at the office every night. And I don't know which one is going to be at the office. I set up a backup schedule to back up all laptops at each night. But of course I am getting a  "failed" job status most the time because at least one laptop is not at the office and backup exec can not locate the machine.

All the laptops have remote agent install on it.

What is the best way to set up the backup schedule to avoid this kind of "error" message? Or is there way to configure backup exec not to report this as failed?

Thank you in advance.

This would be a lot of work, but it's all that I can think of

Create a job for each laptop
run a script that pings each laptop, if it responds use BEMCMD to launch that job

There is always the DLO (Desktop & Laptop Option)  See
