Our backup server have installed endpoint 11 before and upgraded to endpoint 12

When upgrade to endpoint 12 we need to uninstall the live update.

We also have installed the Backupexec 2012 to this server before.

Now the Liveupdate can not work , although I have repair the Live update.

New the Live update remember the old setting to go the OLD LUA server get update.

How to flash the Live setting old setting and let the live setting go to symantec to download the update.

Thanks

Afaik, BE 2012 onwards isn't listed under the product catalog for LUA servers.

Run a repair install of BE first. Then open a cmd with elevated privileges. Browse to \Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec & run the following command -

BeUpdateOps.exe -AddBE -OptOut

Once done, try running LiveUpdate again from BE.

-AddBE :- Registers Backup Exec with LiveUpdate

-OptOut: - Opts Backups Exec out from other product's LiveUpdate sessions meaning BE will be updated only when LiveUpdate from within the BE console is run. BE will not try to update when LUA or LiveUpdate via SEP is run

But our liveupdate is still remember the old setting get the update from LUA.We need to get update from Symantec by Internet

Is it use this command can solve this problem ?

Thanks

This command will register BE with LiveUpdate and allow BE to receive updates from the internet. So yes, this command should help.

Unfortunately you cannnot configure a liveupdate client to go to the internet or the LUA server depending on which product is being updated when both products are on the same host server. This is because the communication setting is per host and not per product

As such you will possibly need to both Opt-Out Backup Exec from LiveUpdate Admin

AND

Plan to manually download and apply patches and Servcie packs to Backup Exec as and when they occur.

With regards LiveUpdate talking to the wrong LiveUpdate Server - you need to export the correct configuration file from your LUA console and apply that to all of your affected your clients. You almost certainly need to read the LUA documentation for steps to do this if you do not already know them.

Finally some of the newer versions of Backup Exec do have catalog files for LUA, although it is possible that BE 2012 is not one of them, even if BE 2014 or 15 are. Best way to confirm what is available is to download/update the latest product catalog into LUA and then see what versions of Backup Exec are available
