I have noticed some rather odd behavior recently when attempting a restore. After Archiving material, I run a "Test Restore" of a few randomly selected files to ensure that I can retrieve the data from my LTO tapes. However, recently after a 6.5 TB Archive, when I ran the test restore, after a few minutes, just a few bytes had been written and several hours later nothing else had yet to be written. I then tried running the test as if it were a full restore job and it ran with no problems.
I found out that there are problems with selecting specific files on backup jobs that are over 4TB, so it was decided to re-archive the most important data to a smaller job that was 2.7 TB. Unfortunately, the same behavior was experienced.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
