Greetings,

We are about to implement DataDomains in my environment with Symantec BAckup Exec 2014 in three datacenters. Will be replicating between DDs.Can someone refer me to a Symantec Best Practices Guide for BE with EMC DD? Havent been able to locate such..... don't even know if one exists.

Best.

I have not seen any best practice document for DD. Replicating your DD's is equivalent to copying your backup sets and this is not recommended. See this document http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH176061 You should always duplicate your backup sets. You might want to use your DD's as an OST appliance. Check the HCL below to make sure that your model is supported http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH214803 You would need to licence DD Boost and the BE dedup option on the servers to which the DD's are connected. All the DD's must be connected to a BE media server. After this you can then but an ESO option licence to set up a CASO environment. With this, you can do optimised duplication which allows you to send only the changed data blocks across the WAN links
