MSL2024 Library Offline after Tape inventory

Hi,

I am having a problem, I just installed a BE 12 on a HP dl380G5 with a SCSI MSL2024 LTO4 Tape Library.

The backup job is fine, but everything if i remove the tape and inventory the new tape the library offline, so I have to restart my whole server to make it online again and do the inventor back. And this appear eveytime i replace my tape.

I have problem same with you, but I am using NBU 7.0. I think, you can use tool Diagnotics Library & Tape Tool of HP that check operation of MSL2024.

When check MSL ok, then you can install backup. It can fix problem of you.

Some troubleshooting to do before I tell you what is most likely the problem...

1. Install the latest BE 12.x drivers, and run the Device Configuration Wizard to install the Symantec drivers for the library.

2. Make sure that Removable Storage service is stopped and disabled.

3. Upgrade the firmware through HP LTT for the MSL.

OK...if #3 doesn't work (and it has twice for me in the past 2 weeks), chances are good that your tape drive itself has errors. LTT will either confirm it (or tell you that everything is fine...it does that sometimes), and that means you can replace it under warranty if you have that option.
