Media set in BE15

Compare  with BE2010, can I say the concept of media set in BE15 only uses to control the overwrite protection period of tape backup. For disk storage backup, the backup file will be controlled by "Keep for" value in Job definition? Thanks

In BE 2010, disks and tapes used the same "media set" concept.

In BE 15, disk and tape are now managed totally differently from each other.  Tape has the traditional overwrite protection period and the append period via "media sets" that it always had.  Disk backup sets are now "retained" (i.e. overwrite protected) for the length of time specified.  There is no longer any concept of "appending" to disk since disk is direct access, as oppesed to tape, which is sequential access.
