Move the database

Hi ,
In our server we have serversql server db which is 500gb. We upgarded our server from windows NT to windows2000. We were running a old version of vertias backup exe. After the upgarde we upgarded the vertias backup to 9.1 on windows server. Our Windows admin didn't know that it will install sqlserver ..It created the one more instance on our server. Now our server r running slow ..since it's sharing the memory.
I would like to know is there anyway that we could combine both the instance to one without uninstalling the vertias backup.
Is it possible to reconfigure to new server ...

Thanks
Muthu

Not sure about moving the instances, since I've never done it, but in order to improve the speed issue it might be worth adjusting the memory allocations for the two instances. By default both will be allocated all the memory, so they'll be fighting for it, so if you specify for instance that your main instance can use 80% and the BEWS instance can use the remaining 20% you should see a performance improvement.

Hello,

Please refer to this tecnote:

Tilte : For optimal results, the Backup Exec Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine instance should not be installed into an existing SQL instance.
