No Media or drive Types ?

Hi
Veritas is reporting that it does not know what drive or media type is installed!
Could this be the casuse of my error:-
"0xa0008101 - Invalid Physical Volume Library Argument"
The drive I am using is a Sony AIT-1 Turbo with VB 9.1 SBS and Windows Server 2003 SBS
Please help- Thanks
