No VERITAS Update Client

I searched the symantec forums and i googled the internet for the problem of:
"The VERITAS Update client was not found on your machine. To enable VERITAS Update functionality, please install the VERITAS Update client. See VERITAS Support for more information."

When I click on my vertas update icon, it takes me to the internet and i choose 'list avail. updates' on the left and i get the message above.   i have reinstalled the client, i have changed my IE settings, and i cant figure out what is going on.  im using backup exec 10d ver 10.1 rev 5629 and the installed updates are SP3, SP4, Hotifx 49.    Someone please help and give me some ideas.

PS.....I have even set my IE settings for the Internet as low as it would go (Medium) and then I changed all the settings to 'enable' and i still get the same message.
