Not in Time Window

Hi,

A customer of mine has Backup Exec 9.1 running on Windows 2000 server. 2 days ago the scheduled job changed to say something like Not in Time Frame and all the services stopped? After reviewing the event log it appeared that the Device service had incorrect logon information, but when I tried to change it the dialog box for changing it hung! Reinstall I thought, but when trying to remove the uninstaller fails! Safe mode I thought, same thing! Disabled services in safe mode and booted properly - it wouldn't even let me into control panel!

If anyone has any ideas about this I would be eternally grateful!

Regards,

You may try repairing the backup exec installation and observe the results.

Thanks for that. The server was struggling to stop the services so not sure if this will work. Will try and post results here...

Hi,

OK, tried the repair and still hangs on preparing reinstall. If you cancel this as well it just hangs! Is there a way or manually removing the software and starting again?

Please help!!

The "Not in Time Window" error occurs if the Backup Exec is unable to start the job within given time limit or the time window specified for the backup job is overlapping with another job.

Refer to the following example for better understanding

Example:
You have configured a backup job name back1. Which starts at 9:00PM and finishes at 11:00 PM. You have configured another backup job named back2 and specified the time window 10:00PM and 10:30PM. In that case back1 finishes at 11:00 PM. So, Backup Exec will unable to start the backu2 within given time limit (10:00PM and 10:30PM). Therefore, back2 will result
is "Not in time window" status.

To resolve the issue, perform the following:

1.) Ensure that no backup job is running between 10:00PM and 10:30PM( in reference with the above example)

2.) To isolate the cause of the issue, schedule the problem job without time window and verify the result.
3) Extend the Time Window as mentioned in our earlier reply.

For additional information refer the following technote:

When schedule jobs run, they go immediately into "Not in Time Window" status.

But,if the you wish to manually uninstall the software then it is recommended to call our support engineer.
