Not registering cleaning tapes

Backup Exec is not detecting the cleaning tape
 
We have DLT VS80 Drives.
 
How do I get Backup Exec 11 to recognize that we have used a cleaning tape

Are you using a manual process of cleaning? If so then why bother with Backup Exec keeping track of it?

We saw that the function apeared to be in Backup Exec, and this would provide aditional documentation to support ISO-9001 maintenance documentation showing when we cleaned the drives last.
 
At this point we are assuming the "Cleaning Media" media set is there to support drive types that can report detecting a cleaning tape, and we can not use it.
