Notification confusion

Hi

I am trying to set up Job Alert Notification on Backup Exec 10, but its doing my head in.

I have configured it all up, and I know that it works. The issue is, however, if I specify a recpient for a notification that isnt a user on the SMTP Server (Exchange) the notification doesnt come through.

Since I am contracted to this company, I dont normally work here, hence I would like the notification sent to an external address.

Is it supposed to be like this or is there something I am missing?

Hi Hong,

While sending notifications to a person, one can configure SMTP, MAPI, VIM and Pager notifications. If the user is not on the SMTP server you can configure either MAPI VIM or pager notifications.

OR the other options would be Netsend, Printer notifications and Group notifications.

Can you configure the user to use any of these ?

Have you tried setting up a user with an External Address only on the Exchange Server (ie the icon beside the name in the GAL is a little globe rather than the Head and shoulders)?

My Exchange admin had to setup the Exchange server to allow forwarding from my BE server

Now I know that the user I want to mail to has to exist on the mail server I specify.
