Notification wont send outside network

Hello thanks for reading,
I am runing ver 9.1 on a win2k advanced server and for some reason am not able to send notification emails outside the network. if i place the private ip of my mail server (which is a different machine) as the smtp server, it wont go outside to any email address outside the domain. But if I use a temporary smtp server eg., smtp.somename.com it works successfuly and can send notifications to any email address of my choosing.

I am also running a sonicwall.

SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) notification is configured and enabled within Backup Exec but no notification is received after the job runs.

Backup Exec SMTP Mail Notifications are not sent when Mcaffee or other SMTP port/spam blocking software is installed on the SMTP or Backup Exec server

Hello and thanks for reading..

I have been trying to get the notification option to work outside the network with no success. I can place an smtp from an outside source for testing and all works well, but when I use our own, notifications only are sent internally.

I have used the symantec database for help with no luck.
