Hi Forum

I'm a reseller on Backup exec, I have worked with the
product since version 6.5.
Now I have installed around 20-30 of version 9-11D
but I have one big problem:
when the servers changes the daylight saving time twice a year.
the notfication marker under each job disappears.
Then I would have to enable the each Spring/fall.

is the a soultion on this subject, ore do I have to try another
product ?

Hello,

If you install Hotfix 16 for Backup Exec 11.d, this should resolve the scheduling and notification issues you are reporting. Unfortunately, I am not aware of any current development to produce a hotfix for this issue for prior versions.

Greg

We bought up this issue when V9.1 was the latest.
The fix at the time, I was told, was to wait for the next major release, which would include the fix, which should have referred to version 10d.

How it ended up as a hotfix for version 11d, I can't understand.

Hi Again

A while ago I spoke to a Symantec Technichian.
He told me that a solution could be creating a script in bemcmd an schedule it as a task
that enable the notification.
but I'm not that kind of at scripting vizard.

But maybe there is somebody i the forum who is.

Furthermore, I'm not 100% convinced that hotfix 16 actually addresses the notification issue, which as other users have pointed out has been an ongoing issue since at least BackupExec 9.0..  In the specific information Hotfix 16 it says that it addresses the following issues with DST

  • Running a backup job in the past causes jobs to continuously loop as missed jobs.
  • Daylight Saving Time (DST) can cause the first occurrence of any job scheduled to run after DST to be skipped. Also, the next occurrence of any skipped jobs will be rescheduled for one hour earlier then originally scheduled.
None of this says anything about notifications...
