Hi,
We are evaluating BE 2012 with oracle agent installed on an enterprise linux server. Unfortnately, the backup is completed with exceptions of the dfb files. All the dbf files are skipped. I wuold like to know,
- How can i backup the oracle dbf and other open files?
- are there any best practice for this purpose?
Thanks for your support

Hi,
How are you backing up Oracle resource? from root node or oracle resource node in Backup selection view? You should backup Oracle database from oracle resource node.
Please see following technotes:
Configuring oracle instance on Linux server - http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO73881
Best practices for Backup Exec 2012 Agent for Oracle on Windows or LINUX Servers - http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO74434
Thanks!

If you have Oracle Agent license and you have configured oracle database in Backup Exec Agent Config utility for database protection then backup exec will skip oracle database related files while backing up full system or directory that has oracle database files.
In Backup Exec 2012 there is a new feature for backing open files but not the oracle database related files.
Note:
If you don’t have oracle agent license and you have not configured database in Agent Config. Backup exec will backup oracle related files too, but it’s not recommended
