Overwrite/Append Periods

I have been having grief with my media set confiuration when i come to do my end of month backups.

End of month we do 3 backups of the data to a 4mms tape (one after another). The first one always goes fine, but then when i go to run the second it gives me an error saying

"Media is can not overwrite" please use another media

however the tapes we use for the EOM are used once a month, and i have my media setup:
- Overwrite set to 1 hour
- Always allow append

would these be the reason i can never do more than one backup at a time of the same data>??????

You need to alter the second and third jobs to append to the media rather then overwrite it. Currently your first job is fine, but the overwrite protection then protects it from being overwritten (which is a good thing). I'd also suggest increating the overwrite protection period, as 1 hour is almost useless. After all, if for some reason your first job finished in less than an hour, your second job as it's currently configured would overwrite the first backup, which is obviously not what you want to happen.
