Overwrite protection / Append Period Help

Hi,

I am using BackupExec v10 on Windows Server 2003 SP1.

I am backing up to disk (not to tape); specifically external hard drives.

My backup starts a 6:00 PM on every Friday.

The backup completes at 1:00 AM on every Saturday.

I want to protect (2) consecutive backups from being overwritten, so that I will always have (2) backups saved; the current and the previous backup.

The third consecutive backup will overwrite the first backup, and the forth consecutive backup will overwrite the second backup. This cycle will repeat.

What do I set the Overwrite Protection Period and the Append Period to best accomplish this scenario?

I am getting conflicting information from different DirectAssist support engineers, as well as different answers from phone support.

Your time and consideration is appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi,

Are these external hard drives - USB drives...?

The data will be written to just one external hard drive or you are planning to use two hard drives...?

If so, you will have to create two different removable backup to disk folders for two drives respectively.....

Also you may want to refer to the following documents:
