Powervault 122T - auto pick the next empty tape?

I'm using Server 2003 and Backup Exec 11d with a Dell Poweredge 122T robotic library.

I'm new to this stuff so forgive the newbie question.

I have all 8 slots filled and I want to reserve slots 3-8 for my full weekly backups. What I want to do is have the job use a new fresh tape each week for my full backup. I can only seem to figure out how to set the slots as a group of tapes and the job will append until each tape is full. This will not fit our requirements. This is due to our requirement that each weeks full backup needs to be contained on it's own tape and then stored off site.

I really only want one full weekly backup for each tape and then I'll remove the tapes after all are used and load new tapes.

What am I missing here?

Check the admin Guide under "partition a loader" to set up slots 3-8

As for overwriting the tapes.  How long to you want to keep each tape?  two months? three? four? set the OPP (Overwrite Protection period accordingly (From the media tab\right click the media set\properties

As for starting a new tape each job, edit the job and make sure that you have selected Overwrite, rather than Append
