Problems connecting to a Debian Linux server running RALUS 12.5

Hi,

I've installed the new Debian x386 .deb package within the RALUS installation and followed the various HOWTOs on what dependancies to install, beoper group membershp and configuration etc.

It seems to be running correctly. And I can see it within the resources browser on the Windws server, however, when I try to connect onto it, I get the following error:

An error was encountered while attempting to browse the contents of <servername>. A network connection to the serer could not be established.

On the linux box, I can see that port 10000 is open and listening. If I run "./beremote --log-console" - then the log I get is:

(note - I've hidden the ipaddresses and names etc).

So it seems that the connection is attempted but then dropped (as far as I can tell). Any ideas on what might be going on?

something like

Sorry - I didn't read the replies as I thought I had notifications on but never received any. Host file was set up correctly and we were using Ubuntu 6.06 rather than Debian. Never got it to work.

Since the post, we have implemented an automated copy of data to a windows share. it's problematic and not very elegant but will suffice until we implement a snapshot filesystem.
