Prompt for another tape

backup exec 12.5 for windows servers
windows svr 2003 sbs sp2 standard. with an internal tape drive
Device: Sony sdx-550v
media type AIT

Keep getting prompted for another tape to insert just before a job completes. Yesterday it did the same thing and status before putting in another tape that it was asking for was right at 111gbs of data on the tape that was in the drive before being prompted for another tape then the job started all over but finished successfully. Today it is asking for another tape just wondering why this keeps happening?

Sounds like the tape is filling up

AIT-2 capacity of only 80GB native, so if you are getting 110GB on a tape you are getting almost 2:1 compression which is quite good

Hello,

the TAPE is overwrite protected, please check the Media set properties used in the job...Check the Append period and overwrite protection period......Reduce the overwrite protection period if possible...

Hope this helps...

Overwrit is set to 0 hours, and append is set to None infinite - allow append

Well removing some files and folders did it, so it was backing up too much data onto the tapes.

Thank you!
