Just one quick question. Let's say i have an XP wherein SQL Server 2000 is installed. If I used Remote Agent for Windows Server should it be licensed or not? It will be installed under XP. Is it possible to backup SQL Server 2000 using Remote Agent for SQL Server installed in XP. Again should it be licensed or not? I'm asking this since I see in one of the forum this part "You can install remote agent on XP machines, and the good thing is it does not need to be licensed." Quite confused.

No license is required to protect Windows Workstation computer operating systems prior to Windows Vista with the Remote Agent for Windows Servers (RAWS)
You don't need a license to backup the file system of an XP system - however that is just for the file system - you will need a SQL license to Backup the SQL instance - or configure a scheduled dump of the SQL data to a file and then use the file system backup to backup that file instead
Thank you for your reply. However, may I request for a document stating this one if you can show me a part of it on Compatibility list or licensing guide that's better. thanks
