Remote Agent Selection List Access Denied

I get the dialog telling me to "Select User" when I click on a Windows 2000 MEMBER server, selecting the domain admin account gets me "Access Denied".

I have remote agent installed on the Server and it DOES use the "LocalSystem" account.

The Backup Exec Server is also an AD Server.

I have searched everywhere in support and nothing seems to help.

Under the category of strange... I CAN create a selection list for the other AD Server? It is the ONLY other server that works?

What other information can I provide to illistrate my frustration. Oh 9.0 was working fine, and it was on the OTHER AD server?????

Hello,

Refer the following document to check whether your backups exec user has sufficient rights to backup the member server.

Title : How to configure Windows NT and Windows 2000 security to enable the Backup Exec service account to protect data in a domain network environment
http://support.veritas.com/docs/236744

2. Also try to backup the server through user defined selections:

The Account that I'm using for Backup Exec is a Domain Admin Account. It is the same account I used in 9.0 on the other server and it works.

Creating a UDF Selection List resulted in the same dialog box.

I feel that I MUST be missing something. But is sure is werid that I can reach the server that is a DC and I can't reach the others.

Are there any utilities that can help me narrow this problem down????

Hello,

It seems the problem only occurs while connecting to a member server. Have you verified if the backup exec service account is a part of the local administrators group on the remote member server? If not, add the account to this group. Refer to the following technote for more information on how to resolve the problem:

Title:Troubleshooting basic "access denied" and "access is denied" messages in Backup Exec 9.x and 10.0 for Windows Servers
http://support.veritas.com/docs/266075

Hope this helps in resolving the issue. In case it persists,do write back to the forum with details on the configuration of the account. However if we do hear back from you within two business days, this post would be marked ‘assumed answered’ and would be moved to ‘answered questions’ pool.

Regards.
