So here we are in a "real" disaster recovery trying to recover 4 Win 2003 servers using remote IDR. Once we figured out the steps for actually getting to the Wizard, we chose the Assisted method. The "Connect to Media Server" screen appears and we type in the correct credentials and the following message is displayed in a pop-up:
Unable to add service account to the local Administrators group.
You get to click OK and another pop-up displays Unable to connect to remote media server and one more complaining about the network adapter.
After many searches in the KB, docs and newsgroups I can only find references that if the network environment has no DHCP, the computer being recovered must have the same network adapter as the original system. If it is not available, I should click "View Network Connections" and make appropriate changes.
Well, where the heck is this button "View Network Connections"??? No where it seems.
This entire process is extremely frustrating. Does remote IDR even work?
The remote media server is Windows 2000 running BE 10.0 build 5520. The servers to be recovered are all running Windows 2003 with SP1 applied but firewall disabled. The servers to be recovered were installed with Windows 2003 (not SP1) and the IDRs were created with Windows 2003 (not SP1), if any of this info helps.
