Repeated Backup Failure

Dear Support,

I have very recently (last week) installed 10D on a SBS 2003 server (Backup Exec for Small Business Server). I have configured a backup scheme to use advance file open using Microsoft VSS. The first few backups seemed to work OK, but the last two backups have failed with errors associated with advance file open. For instance, today's backup has failed with the following problem: http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/275397.htm. Yesterday's backup failed with the report:

Backup- EHV-SERVER-1\SHAREPOINT AOFO: Initialization failure on: "Microsoft Information Store". Advanced Open File Option used: Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS).
Snapshot provider error (0xE00084AF): The directory or file was not found, or could not be accessed.
Check the Windows Event Viewer for details.

It is not apparent to me what the problem is. Perhaps you could offer some advice, apart from turning off AOFO.

Best regards,

Robert Howe.

Choose to backup the individual parts inside the Shadow components instead of just selecting to backup the Shadow Components "directory.

Hi,

Are you trying to backup Exchnage Database with AOFO..?

AOFO option is not meant for database backups...

Please refer to the follwoing document

What is the intended use of the Open File Option and the Advanced Open File Option?

http://support.veritas.com/docs/263784

Please try and craete a separate job for Exchange without AOFO and verify the results..
