Restore Problem. Server Down.

Trying to restore one of our servers.  We had 2 drives fail in a RAID5 configuration and we rebuilt the virtual disk.

Dell PowerEdge 2950

Reinstalled Windows W2K3 Enterprise

Installed the remote agent

Attempted to restore C: and System State and the Byte Count freezes at153,xxx bytes every time. After 3 min. the job rate starts at 9.0 Mbps then steadily drops for 15sec. until it dissapears.

Installed Service Pack 2 and restarted

Attempted restore again, same symptom recieved.

We tried to redirect the files to the local machine and it freezes around 2,075,xxx bytes
We tried using a differnt tape as well, same problem.

This is distressing. It's not running Exchange or a Domain Controller.

Awitek,

I am assuming you are trying to restore from tape, correct?

Which revision and SP level of Backup Exec are you running?  You can check this from the Help - About menu.

If you restore different sets of data that does not belong to the server you are trying to restore does the same problem occur?

If you restore different sets of data that does not belong to the server you are trying to restore does the same problem occur? Yes, the bite count is a little different (still very low)

Do you have any data that was backed up to disk?  If so, can you try to restore that data to see if the issue still occurs?

Also can you check your event logs to see if the tape drive or scsi controller is throwing any errors?
