Restore ms-sql db on another Veritas server

Hi all,

I have 2 Veritas backup servers:

Server A: running Windows 2000/MSSql 2000/Veritas 8.6/Veritas Agent for mssql2000

Server B: running Windows 2000/MSsql2000/Veritas 9.0/Veritas Agent for mssql2000

If I want to restore from Server A and Server B tapes on some other Windows server:

Server C: running Windows 2003/Veritas 10

the restore will be done on server C locally. Is an MSSQL agent needed for a database restore locally on server C? If so can I use a agent for mssql2000 to install on server C to work with Veritas 10?

Thanks,

Peter

If you did a flat file backup or simply the MSSQL backups themselves, yes you can. If you used the SQL agents I suspect no, you can't. Agents only work at the version they made for so for every BE version you need seperate agents.

Hi,

Is an MSSQL agent needed for a database restore locally on server C?
*yes if online restore

If so can I use a agent for mssql2000 to install on server C to work with Veritas 10?
*have you updated agents with 10d from 8.6 ?

Update us on the same and revert for any further Query
Hope this will help you
