Restore rights after server crash and system corruption.

We had a server crash, but did not loose data. However a lot of user and share rights are gone.
We have Backup Exec 12.
I want to put my rights back the way they were before the crash but wanted to make sure
I do it the right way.
Do I just restore the System State?

Hi there,

If you restore your data, you will restore your folder rights too.
We had a server crash about 4 months ago. Exchange and user data was completely lost (when transferring disks between 2 servers, 2 disks came up as failed in a Raid5 set...Doh!).
What I did was get the server reinstalled to a base OS level, installed Exchange and pointed all the logs/installation files etc. to their original paths, and restored Exchange. The DB mounted, no hassles.
For the user data, it was simply a question of restoring to the original location. This restored all the files and permissions on the folders, as well as the shares. No other work was necessary.

Laters!

I do not want to restore data. The data is still all there. Some rights have gone away. I want to push out rights to volumes and shares.
