Restoring MS SQL and MS Exchange on Windows 2003 SBS Server using Ver 10

Carl_Traina
Not applicable
I have been trying to setup a step by step procedure for disaster recovery.

I install Windows SBS on a New PC.
I install Windows SQL Server, Set to single user mode.
I install Veritas Ver 10.
I Config restore device.
I Scan, Inventory and Catalog data to be restore.
Now from that point on I have tried many different ways.
It never lets me restore the data.
I was thinking of just using MS Backup to see if I have better luck. But, I have spent over $1000 in Veritas software, so it seems like a waste.

Please let me know if there is anything that can be done.

regards,
Carl

Hello,

Do you get any specific error message when you try to restore? If yes, do elaborate it alongwith the procedure you follow.
Additionally you can refer to the following technote which gives the step by step procedure for IDR for SBS:

Title: How to perform a local recovery of a Microsoft Windows 2000/2003 Small Business Server
http://support.veritas.com/docs/243037

Hope this helps. If the problem persists, do write back to the forum. However if we do not receive your update within two business days, this post would be marked ‘assumed answered’ and would be moved to ‘answered questions’ pool.

Regards.
