SIS Common Store folder

Hi,

Is backing up the actual SIS Common Store folder on a drive required after selecting 'Enable single instance backup for NTFS Volumes', or is this redundant? Do the .sis files get backed up as each duplicate file is found? Deselecting the SIS Common Store folder from the backup selections would save a lot of space, but I want to make sure restores will happen smoothly.

Symantec does not state this clearly one way or the other in the forums or docs.

Thanks,

Kevin

During backup the symbolic links will be followed and all duplicate files will be backed up in each location in which they are found.

Assuming Win2k8 R2 Storage Server, BE is smart enough to understand it's single instance enabled volumes to backup what is needed, and restore what is needed...  If some other form of SIS, I am not quite sure what is going on.  You're right, documentation is a bit weak on this aspect, for years!.
