SRO vs IDR

Quick question -

Does anyone have an opinion on which Backup Exec option is better for 'bare metal' restore protection. We currently have intellegent disaster recovery, but system recovery option sounds like a similar product...is cost a factor?

Thanks

Both the IDR and SRO agents requires a license file (for IDR this would be the BE remote agent license) that could affect the cost, IDR works with tape directly where SRO (at this time) does not. The biggest difference though between the two products is the type of backups each does. Where IDR is a ‘file & folder’ base backup where the files of the system is replaced over the top of a windows install performed from the IDR’s recovery disk, SRO creates and restores its recovery point images at a, ‘sector-base,’ level allowing the restore to unallocated space. With the Restore Anyware option which allows for more streamline ability to migrate an image from one hardware platform to another with SRO - that at this time IDR does not have – SRO is a more of a fore running in bare metal recovery option especially for future hardware upgrade considerations.
