SUIR.EXE high CPU utilization in 11D

We have 11D Rev 6235 with all the latest hot fixes installed on a Pent III 927 with 768mb Ram as the media server. We are running CPS backing up general user data files, applications, and some SQL files from 3 servers. This is all this server is used for. The SUIR.EXE uses 80 - 90% CPU utilization. I have gone through the best practices document for CPS. Any ideas on how to remedy this?

SUIR.exe is the Indexing service so if you are seeing that much utilization then there is a lot of snapshot processing taking place. You may have an indexing problem...check the properties of the Backup Destination and examine the snapshots. Do you have a lot of snapshots that are not indexed, if so then you may have a snapshot schedule that is too frequent for the capabilities of the server. With a P3 and 768 MB ram the server most likely can't handle much more than just being a CPS Backup Server. If you're running other applications that can and are needing more CPU cycles then you may want to consider locating CPS or the other server applications to another server.

You should probably review technote 281173 for more information on snapshots.

That technote has indexing information that you may find useful.
