Just a simple question...

We have a 2 Xeon 3.0GHZ CPU DELL server with 4GB ram for our CPS installation.

We have 15 offices around the country we backup. A total of 700GB of data that is protected. (spread out on 3 partitions due to the "million" of files bug regarding snaphots).

Snapshots taken between 07:00 - 22:00 every hour every day.

Is it normal that the CPU load is around 60% most of the time?

Just curious...

Conny

Hi,

Install the following patch
http://support.veritas.com/docs/284241

Also refer: http://support.veritas.com/docs/284253

Thanks!

The patch is now installed and the server rebooted (since yesterday) and no difference on CPU usage...

Its still around 60-70% most of the time... Statistically its been like that 90% of the week... (we monitor the server via a statistic program so I can see over time how it behaves)...

Is there any other tricks I could try to get it down?

Could someone plese get back to me on this?

I did as suggested above and I even installed hotfix 6 for the CPS server but it still uses somwhere between 60-80% cpu most of the day.. it drops sometime during the night... I figure thats when the snapshots are not taken...

Should I expect this kind of load and get more CPU power or is it bug?
