Introducing Veritas Backup Exec 21.1 with unified cloud, virtual and physical.

NEW! Support for Cloud File Shares

Cloud services have revolutionized how organizations consume and plan storage use by allowing consumption-based utilization that scales out as needed, allows customizable availability, and offers global, high-performance access for any size organizations.

Azures Files and Amazon FSx for Windows Servers provide a new opportunity for organizations to move more infrastructure to the cloud and consume file servers as a service over existing standard protocols to seamlessly migrate over the services without disruption to the user experience.

With Backup Exec 21.1, we are adding support for Azure Files and Amazon FSx for Windows Server data protection to help organizations protect all the critical data, independent of where it resides for unified protection and visibility from a single pane of glass.

NEW! Support for Microsoft SQL Always On Availability Groups

Database availability is increasingly critical with services relying on them for global 24/7 availability, and Microsoft SQL Always On Availability Groups meet that need by providing increased availability for a set of user databases (availability groups).

Backup Exec 21.1 adds support to natively protect Microsoft SQL Always On Availability Groups to help organizations meet their ever more demanding SLAs through high-performance backups and restores.

Support for applications, databases, and new platforms

SharePoint is another key Microsoft workload we are enhancing with Backup Exec 21.1. You can now enjoy the patented Granular Restore Technology (GRT) for high-performance restores on any level from a single backup, minimizing the Recovery Time Objective while enabling all advanced restore capabilities.

Backup Exec 21.1 also adds support for Oracle Database 18c with Recovery Manager (RMAN) and including Real Application Cluster (RAC) support.

For Microsoft Windows, we have added support for the latest updates: Microsoft Windows Server, version 2004, and Windows 10, version 2004 support.

On Linux-side, we are adding Open-File support for RedHat Enterprise Linux 8.1, 8.0, and 7.7 along with support for Ubuntu Linux 20.4 and 19.10 as well as for Debian Linux 10.4.

On Unix-side, we have enhanced the installation and packaging of the AIX and Solaris agents for a more streamlined experience.

Other platform enhancements include new cloud storage regions for Google Cloud Compute at Las Vegas and Salt Lake City, along with Amazon Web Services at Cape Town and Milan.
