I have a media set which writes to two tapes evey day, settings as follows
Media overwrite protection - is set to Append to media, overwrite if no appendable media is available
Media overwrite protection is set to - Full
Media overwrite options is set to - overwrite recyclable media contained in the targeted media set before overwriting scratch media
properties on Media set - 25 days Overwrite protection period and 1 day Append period
I have been having issues with the media showing up as -not appendable (end marker unreadable) I understand this is a bug in veritas 10d, I have tried the quick erase and long erase but have had no joy and instead have replaced the tape which seems to work for the moment.
The issue is when labelling new media for my media set do I leave it in scratch media or do I move it to my media set?
Moving it to my media set makes the media overwrite protected and not recyclable so therefore it wont overwrite.
If I leave it in scratch media will the job overwrite my media and then continue on the second tape or will it just que up in my job monitor ?
Any ideas?
