Sharepoint - Backup both server & server farm?

Hi all,

Just a quick (stupid?) question.  When I add my sharepoint server to BE2012, I get 2 entries in my server list - 1 is the server itself and 1 is 'Server Farm 1'.

Under the selections for my sharepoint server, I have 'Microsoft Sharepoint Resources'.  So is this good enough to get GRT restores on Sharepoint - or do I also need to backup Server Farm 1??

I'm guessing the point of having 2 servers is Server Farm just backs up Sharepoint, where as the server backs up both Sharepoint & the server?

Thanks for your time all :)

Ans Make SharePoint backup selections from the appropriate SharePoint farm resource container in the list of servers on the Backup and Restore tab instead of selecting individual SharePoint servers. The SharePoint farm resource container represents the entire farm topology in your environment, including all of the SharePoint resources that reside on a single computer. When you select the SharePoint resources from the farm resource container, you ensure that you select all available SharePoint resources for backup. Please check blow link for best practices for sharepoint agent, http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO74431 So please backup sharepoit from sharepoint farm and not from share point server. Also have a look at enhancememt for share point agent in BE2012 http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO73185 Hope above helps Thanks
