Single Instance Backups

Single Instance Storage reduces storage requirements on NTFS volume by finding redundant files and replacing them with links to the target.
Question on properly backing up these volumes. The stub files are linked to the file in VolumeName\SIS Common Store. When selecting the "Enable Single Instanc eStorage Backup for NTFS" in the Advanced job properties, do I need to backup up the SIS Common Store folder? I'm using 10d (10.1 rev 5629.
What is the behavior of Backup Exec with respect to SIS enabled volumes when that option is selected? Does Backup Exec work the same way the volume does, only keeping a singe instance of each unique file and where the same file exists - replace that with a stub file? I'm not able to find the answer to this question
Thanks!
