Spam Emails stops the backup

Everytime the tape backup is ran all the spam emails cause it to skip the files and continue, but it FAILS everytime when running the backup, it is never successful?
Also the Notification won't work either for the email, it use to send an email when it didn't backup but now when you test the email notification, it sends and alert and also when veritas is first starting up and connecting to local media server, it beeps, and then sends an alert message reading "Error - AlertServer failed to successfully logon to MAPI with profile and password supplied."
Help please.

In order to Backup Exchange mailboxes successfully please ensure that following guidelines are met:-
1.) Anti-virus software accessing the Information Store at the same time as the backup, i.e. using the same Messaging API as Backup Exec does.(It is then recommended to stop Anti-virus software services when backing up the mailboxes).
2.) Multiple levels of embedded mail messages (a message attached to a message attached to a message etc.)(remove message)
3.) Automated system messages (undeliverable, over size limit etc.)(remove message).
4.) The message / attachment is really corrupt (can't open, view or execute)(remove message).
5.) Virus infected Information store (clean for virus).
6.) Very long subject lines (remove message).
7.) Very long attachment names (remove message).
8.) Very large attachments (might give out of resource like errors)(remove message).
Check the name of the mailbox (which gives error "is a corrupt file") in job log and download all the mails of that mailbox to personal folder file (.pst)

The above errors inform that there are few mails in the mailbox which are undelivered and are returned back to the mailbox. Kindly delete such mail messages and then carry out the backup job operation.

Regarding the second error message '"Error - AlertServer failed to successfully logon to MAPI with profile and password supplied." the issue occur occurs when Email Notification using MAPI is configured and the VERITAS Backup Exec services are set to use the Local System Account. To resolve the issue, perform the steps mentioned in following technote:

Hi,


Backup job fails when spam mails or corrupt files are encountered. The workaround is to delete the spam mails. Alternatively, you may review the following document:

Regarding the second issue:

1. Ensure that all the Backup Exec services are started using local Admin or Domain Admin account and not Local system account.

2. Open DCOMCNFG from start | run
b. Select BackupExecAlertServer and select properties from among the list of applications
c. Select the Identity tab
d. Click on the uer for which the error appears:
"Error - AlertServer failed to successfully logon to MAPI with profile and password supplied."
e. Select the Backup Exec Service account, type and confirm the password for this account
f. Click Apply and Ok
g. Restart BE services.
