Speed Issues

Hello all:

I was previously having the problem of losing compression on our Sony AIT drive and so I tried uninstalling and resinstalling a fresh version with no service packs in case that's what caused the issue. I ran a backup and it has become excrutiatingly slow. About 24MB/sec on Exchange mailboxes. I've heard that such backups are inherently slow and it would be best to backup the Information Store instead. If I did this how do you restore a single mailbox or mail message?

What version of Exchange are you running?

You have two options

1) see http://support.veritas.com/docs/241991 (but must be setup BEFORE you need the deleted items/mailboxes)

2) restore the entire store to a standby server, then ExMerge the desired mailbox


(if you were on 2003, you could use the storage recovery group)
