Symantec Backup Exec 12.5 and Exchange Management Tools Problem

Hi,

I've a Backup Server with Backup Exec 12.5 on a Windows Server 2003 R2. This Backup Server is not in a Domain.
I'd like to Backup a Windows Exchange Server 2007.

Backup Server: W2003 x86
Mail Server: W2008 x64, Exchange 2007 SP1

For this I have to installa the Microsoft Management Tools.
But this is the first Problem. I can't install the Exchange Management Tools, because the Server is not in a Domain.

So i tried a trick, but it did't work. I joind the Server to a Domain, installed the tools and removed the server out the Domain.

But i can't Backup the Server:

How do you Backup an Exchange 2007, and sould i have the server in a domain?

In order to use the Exchange Agent to backup Exchange, the BackupExec service account needs Exchange Admin rights.  This means that the acount must be a Domain Account

Sounds like you need to join your media server to the Domain
