cann I backup the System State of backup exec media server itself using advanced open file iption?
BE 2012 Ver 14.0 1798 64-bit
Media server Server 2008 R2

Yes you can. Along with the System State you should also include the below to recover from disaster.
1) System State
2) Shadow Copy Components
3) Utility Partition
4) C drive
5) Data and Catalogs folder (to recover Backup Exec from disaster)

System state & Shadow Copy Components are by default snapshot backups whether AOFO is on or not.

You should turn on AOF when you backup the system state. Otherwise opened files would not be backed up

that was exactly my question, whether I could backup Windows System State when AOF is activated. Or is there any known complications ?
