System State & NDIS.DIT backup

Hello,

We are running Backup Exec 11d Rev. 7170, SP5 in a Windows 2003 SBS SP2 environment and are running into the following situation:

While performing a full system backup, the job gets hung up on backing up the System State file

C:\Windows\NTDS\ntds

We cannot cancel the job unless we force the bengine.exe process to quit.

We have ensured Backup Exec is running the latest version through live update and have rebooted the server in question.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Is this a remote server ? if yes make sure you reinstall the remote agent on the server . make sure all the VSS patches are applied on the server Apply the windows patches on the server.

Check if recreating the backup job selection helps .

This is not a remote server that is being used.  The only change done recently was that we recently switched from backup tapes to external USB terabyte hard drives for backups.

We'll try recreating the job and selections first and then apply any pending Windows Server updates.
