Tape Capacity

Hi

i have a weird question.

i am using LTO 3 tape library.

last night, i found one thing that one LTO 3 tape is holding 1.16 TB data.

for my understanding, LTO 3 can hold 400/800 GB native/compress only.

just wonder if backup was successfully, so i ran a testing restoration.

it worked fine, i could restore it.

i just wanted to double check if that happens sometimes

2:1 compression is marketing hype, not engineering promise.  Some data compresses more than others
