Tape Ejecting After Inserting

Not applicable
I have a Windows 2000 Server running Veritas Backup Exec 8.6 Rev. 3878. Every time a tape gets inserted each day it automatically ejects itself. This will go on about 3 or 4 times before it finally stays in the drive (HP C5683A SCSI). Once it stays, the backup runs fine. I have tried stopping and restarting all Backup Exec services and that has not worked. Any ideas out there??

Thank you,

Please refer to the following Technote for Veritas Hardware Compatibility List(HCL) for Backup Exec v8.6 and check if the devices used are present in the list.
Technote: VERITAS Backup Exec for Windows NT/2000 v8.6 Device Support List for All Devices

http://support.veritas.com/dsl/verselect_ddProduct_BEWNT_prod1_NT86.htm

Note: Please copy the above link in the browser to open.

Please download the latest device drivers for Backup Exec v8.6
Technote: 8.6 (All Builds) - Device Driver Release (20021101) and Robotic Library Release (36) (Intel Only) http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/251862.htm

If the device is not mentioned, Veritas does not guarantee you a reliable data storage/protection for the device which are not explicitly tested. We highly recommend that the device has to be mentioned in our HCL, for Backup Exec to work properly.

Please try using the device drivers provided by the hardware manufacturer if the device is not present in the HCL and drivers are not available.

Adding support to a particular Backup Device in Backup Exec (Hardware Compatibility List - HCL) is a joint effort between the Device Vendor and Veritas. Therefore it is difficult to make any comment on when a particular device is made available in HCL.
